The best way to get better mpg, is to treat the loud pedal as if it had an egg underneath it.

The handbook says you will only get 16mpg around town on a 2.5v6 auto. End of story really.

Are your VIS motors in good order?
I was told that it may alter the mpg if not working well. Check if any error code. Talking about D (Eco) or SD (Sport, so called), I noticed on my side that it doesn't make much difference if you are not abusing of kicks down. IMHO this fine car is better on large roads with not too many corners or motor roads at high speed than in town or small roads with corners, uphill & downhill, and better on long journeys than on short ones. When I was fuelling her with petrol, she made around 30mpg, avoiding towns, jammed traffic & too short journeys as much as possible, even in SD with A/C. Now with ethanol around 24mpg, but that's normal.

It's a big car with a big engine & an autobox to boot so you're never going to get great MPG.
I never even considered MPG when I bought any of mine & they're a mixture of auto & manual. |
