Bonnet lock removal

Thanks to the lovely secret how-to I managed to release my bonnet after one of the cables snapped Now I need to get to the bonnet locks to replace the broken cable and inspect the rest of the mechanism. Looking at the Haynes it seems to suggest taking the whole front of the car off, which is a bit daunting, especially since I think my time will be quite limited before I have to drive the car to work on Monday! Is there a cheat's way to do it without removing quite so many parts?

You can do it without removing the front end, but it is far easier and quicker to whip the bumper and slam panel off.

once you have done it the first time you can have it off and on again inside 1/2 an hour...

I agree removing then bumper and slam panel looks daunting but it's actually not that difficult.

It doesn't look too hard, that's true. I made a start on it and all of the wheel arch fixings are seized, which is going to be a bit of a ball-ache. I'll leave it to next weekend I think, maybe the weather will be better then. I'll just drive around without a grille this week in case the other cable breaks...
