Default EKA code

my 2.0cdt has been in the garage with starting difficulties...it turns over, but won't fire up...The chap at the workshop has checked and the fuel pumps are working ( with a live wire connected to them ), he reckons it could be immobiliser.
Before it stopped working i had it running, and then it cut out...not started since...
I believe you can get the EKA code off here/internet somewhere, but what do i do with it then...does it need plugging into machine to clear it...cheers Ada

There is no EKA code available for the 75 & ZT models I'm afraid

That only applies to the 25/ZR and 45/ZS, the EWS 3 immobiliser in the 75 and ZT doesn't have this facility.

Is the engine immobilised symbol illuminated in the instrument pack?

Russ

Not on the 75, it is a BMW immobiliser system, if on your IPK there is a symbol of an engine with a cross through it, this means the immobiliser is armed.
If the car turns over, it is possible that the EWS immobiliser, and engine management ecu have had their communications corrupted.

As BigRuss said..............Rover 75's do NOT have the EKA code option. I don't care what any website tells you "it is available". It is not. Trust me. Don't waste your time. The immobilser on a 75 is completly integral to the EWS system.
Oh, and if it turns over and fires it is also nothing to do with the immobilser.
