Default Windscreen Replacement

Got in my car this morning to discover a crack about 7 inches long coming from the drivers side a-pillar right across the middle of the screen.
I didn't have a chip as far as I was aware so i'm baffled by it.

It's gonna need replacing and my insurer want £60. Does it class as a claim when its for a windscreen?
They've said I can get it done myself by another firm but they'd only cover upto £300...how much does a ZT screen cost?

Anyone had any dealings with having a new screen fitted?

Not to a 75/ZT, but i have had maybe 3 or 4 replaced in my time. It doesnt count as a claim 99% of the time, most insurers ignore it. Just phone them, arrange a time and its done. Lovely clear new screen.

On the 75/ZT just make sure they dont lose the scuttle panel pins, they tend to fly off!

Recently has my windscreen replaced in similar circumstances. £70 excess in my case and did not affect my NCB.

You can do it all online: https://www.autoglass.co.uk/Autoglas...omepage.0.html
Had mine done at home on my other car, £70 paid, and no effect on NCB.

Second that. I also have had one screen replaced and two chips repaired.
Screen replacement was £70 excess and chips for free. No effect on NCB

Getting it repaired tomorrow on the works insurance so it's not gonna cost me anything.
One thing I found interesting though, he said the standard tint is green ?
Is that right?
