If you have a Costco nearby you can get 4 x 500ml bottles as a multipack for 12 quid. That’s 16 shots at 75 pence a shot!

This all sounds like an AA meeting!!
But seriously, ive used a bunch of different additives , mainly injector cleaners and the car always has more zip when used but in reality there mainly just a boost to the fuel octaine level. im sure there is some benefit but if you run on premium 98 fuel the engine is burning cleaner anyway. The additives that interest me are the oil ones, oil conditioners etc,be interesting to see if they do anything. |

Placebo effect is a widely known phenomenon. It applies to people but surely also to car owners.
Petrol products are highly controlled substances ito manufacturing standards, and they come mainly from a few sources, irrespective of where you buy them. If a product is really worth it, I guess it will be added as a standard to the mix. That said, there was a case of valves burning some years ago using Shell petrol. So, I guess, if you think it works, it works.

In the case of diesel additives, the Millers in particular is a cetane booster plus injector cleaner. That of course is the combination one wants in order to maintain the injectors in a clean condition and to improve engine responsiveness. Hence it works as intended. Personally, I do not use oil additives but buy oil with the optimum additives already included. I use Millers synthetic XF oil in my cars. |
