was there a thread about powerflex bushes on part of the car being no good?

Hi Ian.
Powerflex had trouble with the initial red mount they first made for the diesel engine as it was to soft & started to tear in the alloy surround, the link below explains what happened & how they changed it to a yellow one with slots added to aid the vibration, but it is wise to use the original nylon insert from the old failed original mount in my opinion in conjunction with the powerflex mount rather than the solid metal insert supplied with it.

Default Mondeo mount trial

Hi Steve, I seem to remember you suggesting a trial of modified brackets and mondeo mounts on nano meet cars requiring a new mount- Did anybody ever agree to be the guinea pig for this? Did I just imagine this?
Having looked through the old thread I found the post giving the link for the jag/ mondeo mount and was surprised that it was less than £20. I too have a (low mileage used) original mount as a spare and the mount on the car is in pretty good condition... If anybody is looking to replace the lower mount on a diesel then trying this would be a real favour to others on the forum as it is a pity that we have nobody who can report on the modified bracket and mount you explained so well in this post https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...&postcount=192

I had one of the first couple Slotted yellow Powerflexes ( supplied by Steve ( artic) on my Diesel auto for over 30k miles with no problems and in desperation trying to track a 2000 rpm vibration I changed it to one of those new style all purpose ones from DMGRS like those shown previously and I have found there is no difference whatsoever in use to a Yellow one.

Hi Joe.
No is the answer sorry as it is quite a task removing the bracket therefore the modified one I have as not been fitted yet, I am sure I will get round to it or at least see if the bracket can be either filed or ground down in situ, if it can I will report back asap.

Once i have tested the next one on the Auto i have then i will try the remaining one, the link to the ECP original mount should have a letter T on it, or a they part of the new batch that was done after the mould got misplaced or destroyed never really found out the true story to that, all i know is that the 1.8 mould was apparently used instead and a yellow dot was added so distinguish them apart, it was believed that the right compound was used as before when the T mould was still about, but how do we know for sure 100% is is down to trust at the end of the day.

There by why i am trying to find which is the best if it turns out that the original is in fact a 1.8 mount with just a yellow dot on it

this mount comes with an M on it and a yellow dot

The ecp2004 advert states
"

This is a brand new Genuine MG Rover lower engine mounting, suitable

for all Rover 75 & MG ZT with Diesel engines part number KKH101402 .

This is a Genuine Rover part if you have the original part on the car will be stamped with T these replacements
are stamped with an M which is the same as the Petrol as the same mould is used to make both types.
However this is definitely the Diesel compound and we purchase direct from X-Part the owner of Genuine MG Rover parts.

"

I personally would buy this as it is claimed by the manufacturer/distributor to be as close to the original mount as we are able to purchase these days.

i put a yellow powerflex one in and its been great.
Had it in for 12 months now and still perfect, prior to that i had bought
a rubber one which was marketed as good for the kv6 and diesel.
Wasnt really happy with that as i felt there was to much engine movement so changed it to the powerflex one, lasts way longer as well, no extra vibration , better acceleration .
