Default W-reg V6 Connie passed MOT - At some expense this year!

My W reg V6 connie passed the MOT yesterday, usually it goes through with minimal fuss for a fairly low mileage car @74k.

This year I was worried about the missing front heat shield but this wasn't mentioned

However lots of other things were mentioned to the tune of £500 quid.

Front drop link, oil leak, welding on the sills, front pads, front tyre, rear exhaust, brake pipes... I may have missed something.. but all in a bill bigger than I paid for the car a few years ago. However I am not complaining at all, the work has transformed the car it now sounds a lot nicer and no more knocking from the front. I had forgotten about the potential beans on toast for the next few weeks after getting a mile down the road

But then next year will be a breeze!

I've spent a bit on mine recently (eg. rear brakes, belts and air con condenser) but worth it for the enjoyment of driving it.

Happy motoring

John

Other than the oil leak, all those items are just mileage or age related consumables.

Also, the cost is about the same as a replacement set of brake pads all-around at a dealership on some modern and broadly equivalent cars.

Nice one, glad to see you're prepared for the upkeep of these old cars Fortunately, mine passed yesterday with an advisory on pitted discs I can live with that
