Hi all,

I tried Peter Best yesterday but the lady said they won't quote for the Rover 75 for Classic Insurance unless it's pre 2000. Mines 2001. Only insure for 3,000 miles per year but no.... not interested.

Didn't offer to quote for "normal" Insurance, and I didn't think to ask as I was a bit surprised by the refusal. Perhaps all the recommendations I have seen are for pre 2000 ?

Back to the phone again!

John

To get some ballpark figures, try something like the 'compare the market' website. Easy to do, takes 5 minutes, and you can play around with all the variables like excess, limited miles, even compare different engine sizes to see what increases or decreases the premium.

Default Tax and insurance

I had a 620gsdi loved it but due to abdominal surgery found it to low bought Hyundai matrix auto easy to get in and out of, good little run about but even after major surgery I still suffered Roveritus ( no cure according to my specialist) so purchased 75 cdt club se. Cost me £140 extra ins. But a lot less road tax it costs me about £1: 20 extra a week extra. £ 60 a year to drive a Lovely car that still turns heads good on juice comfy like an old pair is slippers. What same these cars are no longer available, Regards Dave.

My ZT 190 (2005) Is with Peter Best classic insurance via MGCC and has cost me £110. That's with a restricted mileage of 3000 and guaranteed value.

As said previously insurance can vary wildly due to individual circumstances and of course the postcode lottery.

Shop around, it could save a fortune

That's the same spiel I got from them when I asked. They weren't interested, It was like pulling teeth talking to them on the phone. my Rover 75 is a 2000.

They don't consider the 75 a future classic unless it was a cowley car. Their attitude to the zt is different presumably because of the MG branding.

Great, I have just rebuilt the rear end on my saloon 75 with the plan to get it on limited mileage classic insurance as a weekend toy as it does it no good standing still. Now the goalpost are moved. It's a Cowley colour will have to try and blag it like the corrupt insurance companies do.
