Default Head gasket type KV6

Hi all,

Just out of curiosity...

I did a quick ebay search for gaskets and saw that both the MLS (without shim) and elastomer type is available for the KV6.
Does anyone know which one is fitted to the engine from the factory? Has the MLS gasket been introduced to this engine just because of the issues with the 1.8 or has this one been introduced during manufacturing of the engine as a "belt and braces" solution?

As far as I know, this engine does not share the same HG issue as the 1.8??

The V6 never had a MLS gasket either fitted or planned.

I have never heard of or seen an elastomer gasket for the V6. I have only seen the multilayer gasket.

Where did you see that?

Rimmer Bros listing is item 6 here ...http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID001711
For some reason they list it with camshaft parts rather than with the head !
Looks like a single layer , but doesn't appear to have any elastomer beading on it

There is nothing to indicate this as being an elastomer gasket at all.

Well, these certainly are.
I would guess Chinese?

I don't even like the looks of them, but that is just me.!
But look at the bead of silicone. Not even even!! Does not imbue me with any confidence at all.

The original gasket on the other hands, seems fit for a tank!

It may be for the older KV6 as fitted to the 800. imho not even worth considering a cheap pattern part on any K series. Go with one from Rimmers or X part which I doubt are elastomer.
