Pulling a trailer on a single carriageway is 40, and 60 on the motorway, unless you have a Range Rover Sport and a huge 6 berth caravan and it's 60 on a single carriage way and 110 on the motorway in lane 3...

And don't forget Autoroute Toll Charges. These work out about £20.00 for a stretch of approx 350 miles all on the Autoroute. I've just got back from Italy and Tolls were probably about £90 for a journey of around 950 miles.

Also don't forget emergency equipment needed for driving in France.
Spare bulb set
warning triangle
high vis vest
either GB number plates or GB sticker
from 1st July an unused breathalyser but not enforced until Nov 1st

This site is worth a look

In the UK, the speed limits are:-

Single Carriageway - 50mph
Dual Carriageway - 60mph
Motorway - 60mph

According to the Caravan Club, for France it's

Vehicle towing a caravan/trailer where the vehicle has a gross train mass of under 3.5 tonne – or a motorhome that has a gross vehicle weight under 3.5 tonne

Single Carriageway - 90kph/56mph
Dual Carriageway - 110kph/68mph
Motorway - 130kph/81mph

Any towing combination for 75's or ZT's should be less than 3.5 tonnes, as (for example) a Tourer weighs 1590kg and the whole range has, IIRC, a maximum towing capacity of 1600kg, thus a train weight of max circa 3200kg

Other way round.

What matters is the gross vehicle train wt(the weight of laden car and caravan:

Below 3.5 tonnes, then same speed limits as solo cars

Weight doesn't come in to it - for cars, if you are towing any trailer then the lower limits apply.

You're gettting confused with driving licences, if the maximum authorised weight of the trailer is less than the unladen weight of the car, and the maximum authorised weight of the combined outfit is under 3500kg, you can tow on a 'B' licence, otherwise you need a 'B + E'.
