They certainly do down here in the South East. It's typically less 'oop north', or so I'm told.

Can any member recommend a tool for cutting exhaust pipe?
How did you get on doing the job?

Well I've took the plunge and ordered me a back box like the one Smudge bought.
I've also ordered a mole grip type exhaust pipe cutters to help me along the way.
Won't be doing any of the work until the fortnight holidays.
Will let the forum know how I got on.
ps
When the work is done there will be them exhaust cutters up for grabs if any member wants to buy them.

In your dreams I thought.
I've had a looksee about and come to the conclusion I could do it meself.
If I get a exhaust pipe cutting tool like them mole grips with a chain and cutting wheels, then if I jack the car high enough it should be achievable.
What do members think?
After it's done the pipe cutters could go back on Ebay.
Next problem is sussing out a back box for a diesel tourer that fits
Again any suggestions will be gratefully received
If any members have done this to there car please comment on how it went and any suggestions to make it easier.
The price is relative. I’m having a back box and pipe fitted on my tourer today costing £200. This is with a small local garage and I can afford it so willing to pay. The car’s original exhaust lasted 15 years and the replacement back box (which I’m now having replaced) has lasted just 4 years and a little under 14,000 miles. I’ve also got a box on back order from DMGRS but can’t wait for its arrival unfortunately.

Well they both arrived today. Both exhaust and the pipe cutter.
I got the one Smudge bought.
As he said it needs painting as it looks bare metal.
I have some black Hammeright in the garage but I dare say silver paint would look better, but then again who will see it?
Any suggestions on paint if not Hammeright?

Angle grinder for most of it then I finished off with a hacksaw.

If you have enough time to spend and want to do it on the cheap forget about the angle grinder.

I used some VHT silver spray paint followed up with some silver bbq/stove spray paint. (Didn't have enough left of the first!)

I got one of these mate:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224082800190

Couldn't separate the mid section pipe from the downpipes and it was in good nic so I cut it with my angle grinder and used the included joint (it's like a sleeve) to connect the backbox to it. Easy job - the only pita is the rubber mounts - I cut the old ones off and used some WD40 to get the new ones on. Use your jack to lift the backbox into position.

I would recommend putting a band around the hangers on the silencer as they tend to break away from the box as only welded to the outer skin I made a band for mine from 30mm steel pallet banding as one of the hangers became detached.
