Insurance renewal
For the last 2 years an online Services provider has arranged insurance for myself and my wife for £160 each year. They contacted me a few days ago as they had changed providers and wouldn't insure me as I had an engine modification - A Synergy 2a!
Went on uSwitch. Insured with the RAC for £129. Bargain

As for the software upgrade, my diesel had the 160hp modification, now goes like s**t off a shovel! Highly recommended!

Currently with AXA on a new BMW M2 Competition (27, no accidents or convictions) for £520 with the girlfriend on there. Thats 12k miles a year, commuting, legal cover all that jazz.
Rang up to add the MG ZT I bought last week, they do a nice multicar discount you see... £650. For third party. Couple of minutes later, eSure did it for £390, which is still madness. But hey ho! Pays to shop anyway. |

It does pay to shop! A few years ago my lad was in the lucky position to move from his 1.0 ecoboost Fiesta to an Astion Martin (He was not quite 20) the Ford was more expensive to insure than the Aston, go figure!

The answer is always the same, they all use different algorythms and data but they all pretty much have the same answers when it comes to the car. If there are more of them on the road, more chance of them crashing. Also, cheaper cars crash more. Other things that I've had effect my insurance without knowing, until a friend got into the insurance industry:

The whole car insurance industry wants a massive shake up, we are being ripped of that's for sure.

Insurance renewal

I tried other non comparison insurers and then a local broker, he came back and said from all his comparisons the best quote was £900 !!! As 25 of my other quotes were from £500 to under £900 where was he coming from !!! I then received my renewal quote, it was £470, yes £10 more than they were listed on the comparison site. I rang them up and they reduced it to £425 a reduction of £45 but still £30 more than last year. I just had to accept. I do under 6000 miles a year, have 16 years NCB, no convictions and the car is kept in a locked compound beneath my apartment in a respectable district. How do you other good folks get your £200 or less premiums? Answer on a postcard. |
