Default CDT Injector Harness E Torx Socket Size

Hi,

Does anyone know the correct number/size E-Type Torx Socket to fit the 3 Torx screws that hold the Injector Harness down on a MK1 CDT ?.

The guide on here says a standard multi-point 5mm socket will do the job but mine are smaller, even a 3.5mm multi-point socket is slightly too big !.

Thanks

A small 5mm socket will do the job just as well not multi-point

Use a 3mm if you have to ?

Thanks but mine are smaller. I got them out with a 3.5mm socket but it slips trying to do them back up. Are you saying a 5mm 6 sided socket will do it ?

This is a 5mm Socket next to the bolt, it's miles bigger.

I can see from the "How to" thread that the Torx part of the head in those shots is probably 2/3rds the size of the seat face, mine are about 1/3rd ?

Deffo smaller. Maybe changed in the past you think ?

Hi Andy.
Earlier ones may have been smaller, the one in my photo is from a late 54/05 plate, yours look to have been chewed up a bit also, which would not help try a smaller socket maybe, even mole grip will remove them as they only go into plastic, you can then replace them with small pozi drive washer screws.

worth buying a set of torx sockets. I don't think our cars require many sizes.

Hi, yes that was my intention but wanted to check the size of these so I was sure the set I bought included this size but so far I’ve not been able to confirm ?. The smallest size I can see in a set is an E4 but this looks like it could be smaller than 4mm, as a 3.5mm normal hex socket just spins around on them !.

E4 is indeed to small, my set goes from E4 to 24 and has 14 "sockets"
Not sure where it came from.

sizes are E4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24.
Does the bolts holding steering rack and the bolts you need.

At a guess I'd say one of E6, 7 or 8 would fit.
