Default AC Pipes! Oh dear...

Hi all,

As part of my latest project I am changing the A/C condenser, just been out to check the pipes and discovered the pipe from the condenser to the compressor looks quite badly worn.

My questions are...
How think are these pipes?
Would you recommend replacing it?
Can you recommend a good protective tape to prevent this happening again or getting worse!

Pics links below... very interested to hear your thoughts.

Hi Rob.
I have yet to see a diesel car without the A/C alloy pipe not being rubbed in that area, solution is to tie it back from rubbing anymore.it looks like it is ok, and will not get any worse if you tie it back.

Hey Arctic,

Many thanks, I shall get the pipe tied back.

I was a little more concerned about the second rub on the pipe, it's a good 3mm deep on the side.

I've added a zoomed pic below, would really appreciate your advice.

Yes i see what you are saying but again that is what i mostly have seen, you could try this below, rather than removing the pipe and fitting an undamaged one.

Rust-Oleum® LeakSeal® Self Fusing Silicone Tape.
