Hi Mr D.
Is that one of the lock I gave to you a while back? they are a nightmare to open, well that is what I found. You can see the scorch mark on the last photo.

I did a 60+ photo session on taking these apart never posted it as it would be a big thread photo wise

Look for W2L on the door lock and the big give away is the child lock on the mechanism.

It could be, I bought 10 motors, put them away, and have not seen them since.

I only took a few pics of the motors, I stopped doing how to anything many moons ago. Disassembly without breaking the retaining clips sure brings out the colourful metaphors.

The burned out motors were totally burned out ,insides were FUBAR

Hmmm. What are the chances of that.

I got hold of one for each door to do as spares (like how that worked out)The first one I looked at, I came up with several unlock motor burnout theories, none made any sense, now it makes less sense.

If I ever find them, it would not be a simple case of swaparooney, When I bought them, from what I remember I had to surf China. There were practically none on the market, and the longest spindle length was short, requiring part of the spindle from the burned out motor and the worm drive, to be pressed onto the spindle of the new motor. Now they are on the market with several spindle lengths.

For direct replacement, I believe but not 100%, that the actuator motors for the BMW E43, and BMW Mini Cooper and Clubman R50 R52 R53 R55 and R56 have the same motor, spindle length, and worm drive.

Due to HMRC who now intercepts packages from China, causing dramatic price increases, followed by them getting their hands on it, they will probably cost about £30. Whereas before April they would cost about £8.

I would compare the specs, but I must have put the old motors with the new ones, as I said somewhere in the Kalahari

I had this happen to my N/S rear door, it wouldn't open from outside, only open from inside, plus central locking wouldn't pop the door pin up.

All I did was take the door card off and lubricated the mechanism with WD40, then squirt some grease in between the moving parts, it worked a treat, got it working again.

Give it a try, you never know. Use a long straw and a syringe to squirt the grease into those important places.

Which reminds me: I've been using WD40 Lithium Grease spray and thought it was a good idea till last week I dismantled a part I had sprayed - and found it quite dry. Anyone recommend another, better brand?
