Here's mine, taken at Dunsfold Wings and Wheels last year.....gloomy day but I was pleased with the shot.
As to the Mach loop, pictures like that of Dragonfly makes me understand why my son goes up there for days on end. |

They are, sort of. We sold 40 operational Harrier GR7 & GR9's to the USMC. For £34 million, so they had a bargain! The total sale price was £110 million, but that included another 72 airframes, ground support equipment and lots and lots of spares.
While some of them have been broken for spares, a few of the more up to date GR9's are still flying, just no longer wearing RAF Roundels. It wouldn't be so bad, but only about 3 years before they were scrapped, we'd paid about £500 million to update/upgrade the bl00dy things! The RAF technically still own 2 flight worthy (though perhaps not flight ready) Harriers. One is based at RAF Whittering, Lincs and the other at RN Air Engineering & Survival School, Gosport. Though I don't think either of them are actually flown anymore. And also own (though they are on long term loan) 3 more. One at the RAF museum (Cosford), one at the Fleet Air Arm museum (Yeovilton) and the other at IWM (London). Last edited by DragonFly; 1st May 2016 at 16:44.. Reason: Edited for clarity |
