contacting the RSPCA
worse then talking to BT, now that takes some doing.
I have a bird, the feathered type in my garage, been there since yesterday. Up and over door has been left open but it has stayed in. Must be getting weak Thought I'd ask the RSPCA for help......finding a phone number on their web site, like hens teeth, found one and tried a "dozen" options before the automated system hung up on me. ye gods macafee2 |

What kind of bird?
Good eating? Only kidding, I have a family of Greylag geese coming to my garden every morning. Parents and 4 little ones. Come in every morning for a poke around then head off down the neighbours croft. |

Some years ago, I tried to ring the RSPCA re an injured seagull.
About 3 hours later I gave up. Almost impossible to reach them. |

Rang them about 4-5 weeks back as we had a rather pretty small parrot in the garden, managed to grab hold of him and put him safely in the conservatory, where he happily stayed. Had to hold on for around 40-45 minutes but when answered they were more than helpful and the wee chap was picked up the following day and claimed by his owners shortly afterwards.
Was advised afterwards that he was actually worth quite a lot of money, thankfully I am more or an animal lover than a money lover, although they run a close race at times. |

Unfortunately the RSPCA do not have the resources or manpower to meet the huge demands for their help. All charities have had a big fall in donations during covid and in the case of the RSPCA calls to them have increased greatly as people struggle to feed and look after their pets in these financially strained times.I make regular small donations to both the national RSPCA and my local branch. And twice during lockdown they have sent out emergeny appeals to supporters for funds. If I had any say in it the RSPCA would receive partial funding from local government instead of some of the dubious human causes they choose to support. After all the RSPCA are providing very wortwhile support to the community.
