Default Front drip links

has any one got an easy way to take off the nut on the front drop links ,real pain can ya tell I'm getting old 😆 lol

Once you have undone the top nut a little you can use a good sharp hack saw below is a link also.

make sure the blade is new.

Once you have got half way through you should be able to pull the drop link upwards.

It will then snap off.

What did you use to get in that nut on top mate can't get anything g on it gonna try flexible crows foot

When I replaced my drop links last year on the Connie the top nut was a lump of rust so I had to use a cutting disc on the underside to remove. When fitting the new part , I fitted an open ended spanner to the new top nut and tightened the link by turning using the flats on the underside. I then packed the top nut area with copperslip to protect and make later removal easier as I did with my tourer a few years back.

Ground down 17mm & 15mm ring spanners to get it started

I used a bike spanner one of the flat steel ones with various hex cut outs just about slips over the existing top nut to hold it while you turn the thread on the flats

Thanks guys will try to sort this today used to have ground down spanner’s but all nicked when I lost my snap on tool chest etc
