Default MAF cleaning in ultrasonic

Hi All,

Newbie here with a recently purchased '02 Club CDT. As a rule when I buy a car I work methodically through various jobs before I think about spending any hard-earned on upgrades. As my car is only a 116 I have wondered about either the X-Part performance upgrade or a Synergy2. Before any of that I want to make sure the MAF is as good as it can be and cleaning is one possibility. I'll disconnect it to see if there is any difference in how the car drives aswell. My main question is, has anyone tried cleaning one in an Acetone/IPA ultrasonic bath? It seems to me that a hot filament type device like this might respond reasonably well to this process.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

I used IPA on it, but never thought to use it in my ultra sonic bath. Must say though, it looked spotlessly clean before I started and nothing came off it.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Hi Darren. It's dead easy to set up and will make you think your car has been asleep until you fitted it!
Try here http://tuning-diesels.com/index2n.htm to see the man who makes them and the current price. (£190 I think for the Synergy itself and £80 ish for a MAF.). All the info you need is contained within his site but ask away on the forum as most of us have one and can give hints and tips.

May I ask where in Shrewsbury you are.... Well I just did actually

Regards. Steve.

If you need a new maf you can get em for about 70£ for a Bosch one. I'd obviously also recommend a ECU remap, which will see your 116 to about 156hp :-) with no plug in devices on show under the bonnet.

Hi hayes'ee
I have a synergy 2 and pierburg maf.
How much do you charge for the re-map for a 2.0 cdi tourer and how long doe's it take?
Also do I have to remove the Synergy after the re-map?

Thanks
Gary.
