Also put the armed forces on the streets and borders with the same rules of engagement as the police. Well done to the emergency services last night. Superb response by all and some brave actions I for one view any muslim as potential risk until I know differently or know them personally. As my rant is over my thoughts go out to the victims snd their families from last night.

We've come through terrorist campaigns before with the IRA they killed hundreds over many decades, with many bombings. And we survived and I'm sure we'll survive this.
On another note, with the miltary being deployed after Manchester i wonder if we might see them more often deployed. |

We've had terrorist acts committed in the past by such people there was an uproar then and there's one now.

How far back in the family tree do you want to go?
Sorry, but what makes us ''better'' is we don't resort to punishing innocent people for the actions of those they're related to. What we can and should do is increase the sentence for hate preaching and being involved in the radicalisation of yourself or others massively. We can make travelling for the purposes of radicalisation punishable with much greater jail sentences. If those changes had been made, the Manchester bomber (as an example) could have been arrested on his return to Britain and left to rot in a jail cell for the rest of his natural. The security forces have these people on their radar in the majority of cases but don't have the support of the legal system to act until they've committed a crime. So we don't sit still, we criminalise certain actions giving the police and intelligence services the authority they need to actually act. |

7 innocent members of the public have been killed by terrorists, it could have been a lot more if not for the quick actions of the police who had all 3 terrorists shot & killed within 8 minutes of the first call going in about the attack.
My thoughts go out the people of London and all those caught up in this terrible act of terrorism. Maybe we can have the header greyed out as a mark of respect.

In the 80's (pre-digital age) my Dad was chief inspector of taxes for the british government, one of the highest civil service offices of the time. He also had an irish accent and an irish postcode. Every time he went through security at either liverpool or stranraer docks, or at any airport, he was treated like a terrorist until they'd confirmed where he worked. My uncle was a grocer, he had no such position that could be checked, he was always detained and treated badly when travelling too. A very small percentage of extremists were responsible for the atrocities carried out by irish men. The same is true of where we are now. You can't treat people as terrorists just because they're a certain religion, have a certain accent or come from a certain country - the moment you do that you're spreading the sort of hatred that fuels extremists in the first place. One of the ways we can beat those who are carrying out these attacks is by not allowing our anger to hurt innocent people. Last edited by Rooney; 4th June 2017 at 10:02.. |

I'm in agreement with Jon C on this, regardless if they are born in this country or not, deport them to Syria or wherever they have been. Bring back execution for terrorism offences. It's time to fight fire with fire.

I'm Sikh and get confused for being a Muslim all the time. It does my head in.

I can understand that Rav, I have a mate local who is Sikh, and wears the turban. He has had anti Muslim verbal abuse too.
