I haven't watched Top Gear on a regular basis for years - a shake-up won't do any harm, Clarkson and pals did it a while back, time for someone else now maybe.

I find some of Clarkson's stuff amusing and sometimes think he's a pillock - no doubt he speaks very highly of me.

What I do find weird is how important people seem to think he is......

But he's not realy a car man.
Clarkson isn't a car man. He takes the mickey out of anyone with a socket set - or anyone who knows how engines work.

Please. He would not know what a plenum was. Anyway he owns 30/35 percent of the company that Top Gear is a part of. So not only has this egotistical turnip lost out on wages/salary, he has also pulled the plug on his investment.

Actually he sold his share to the BBC a little while ago so it's the Beeb who've ended up with a whole of what could potentially be nothing.

Except in other countries it doesn't rely upon him.

Like him or not this is big news for the BBC, his show brought in a huge amount of money. If they keep it going, there are big shoes to fill.

The overseas versions will still provide an income. Just because you bring in a load of cash doesn't make you immune from everything - pretty much anyone else would have been fired for punching people at work (except maybe a boxer).

Never suggested he should he treated differently.

The will lose many, many top gear viewers as a result of their actions though.

I have watched the us version, the Australian version, even the Russian and German ones. none compare. the us version gets close, with Adam Carrolla being the Clarkson type character, but tamed for the sponsors. the other two presenters are after bit of a mix up of James may and Richard Hammond. the Aussie one tried too hard, especially in the first season, it was silly really. the Russian seemed to be more akin to the original top gear, although the language was an issue , I couldn't watch the German one at all :/

I am afraid to say this looks like the end of top gear as we know it,and free (well with licence paid) this is another stepping stone to yet more TV subscription and advertisements , like American TV.

who knows it could be better, more entertaining, but it will be subscribed. if you want anyone motoring program like the old top gear best stick with fifth gear
