EV's are OK so long as you drive them and not the other way around!

It is fine having all these “deep green” philosophies which would be great if they actually had real workable solutions attached to their ideals instead “it will all work out some how” I have still yet to here a realistic solution to storing a base load power supply from solar or wind during peak load times (6pm-8pm) when there is no sun and no wind. A battery storage facility would take up a massive amount of space and would not be financially viable. There will have to be gas or coal fired power to some degree or another for some time yet otherwise lights will go out! So in reality the “deep greens” are big on ideas but short on reality. Unfortunately they have to contend with the reality of the laws of physics- or do they ? All sounds warm and fuzzy until you actually examine the reality!! |

I'm not a 'green' by any stretch of the imagination however I think that anything that reduces out dependence on foreign oil and gas can only be a good thing. Energy independence would give our economy a serious boost.

Does this not suggest that unless we take climate impacts of our ways seriously, most living things in places like Australia will die. There will be little water to drink due to the temperature increases. This may be a useful read. https://theconversation.com/seriousl...century-157875 Perhaps this is ultmimately how the planet will be saved - a massive reduction in consumption due to very little life remaining leading to a massive reduction in pollution. Perhaps the 'deep greens' can see our ultimate destiny and are scared of what lies ahead?

I wonder if all these wind turbines will affect the climate at all? We are taking more and more energy out of the wind - hope it doesn't lead to future climate changes we don't want.

Arguably all we humans are trying to achieve at the moment is finding alternative energy sources to maintain our lifestyles and behaviours. There is a possibility that this is no more than a case of rearranging the deck chairs and what is really needed is a fundamental rethink of our use of scarce resources and our lifestyles. I'm sure many Dodos were comfortable and laughing until the end!

Perhaps some modern cars have inbuilt failure features leading to accidents just like human drivers!
