Default Eyebrows raised!!! My screen hinge has just broke!!

Yep, about 2 minutes ago. So along with the spaniel damaged keyboard and now this, I think a new laptop is on the cards. I'm on quite a budget but what can anyone recommend that might play simulators like flight simulator and what ever others there are? I thought the Acers seemed quite good value, but I don't really know what I'm talking about.

Hi Phil. I can't help with laptop info.

But as far as FSimulator goes, you need a HUGE PC to run it even half effectively. It was an MOD prog and as such they had collosal computer power to run with, we don't.

I bought FSX and all the UK updated scenery early last year, and whilst it does work, it is not very good, the scenery gets blurry at any sort of speed. I have to pause it a lot in order for the thing to catch up..

I am running WinXP pro sp3 2 gig Ram on duel system. AMD Athlon 3.2+ with a Radeon X800 platignum graphics card.

And it is nothing like fast enough. Quad core would help, but I think only NASA could use the prog to its full potential.

Most generally claim on their contents House Insurance for accidental damage to their Laptops.
You either get the same model or current equivalent.

This site has some good info about laptops and how well they work. www.notebookcheck.net Avoid anything with intel graphic chips if you want to use it for any games. All the dual core processors are pretty good though.

Phil
I would suggest you get the fastest Intel dual core you can get with at least Nvidia 9600 discrete graphics card. Personally i prefer the Radeon 4800 series of graphics cards which are now getting into laptops. Any graphics intensive games will need discrete graphics if you want them to be playable
