Anybody watching the rugby ?
Not that I am a fan of the game, or really even played it, world cup is about the only time I really follow it.
Mainly to keep up with the conversation in the staff room. Watching the current game though.

Not a sport I normally watch but I watched England's match last night. Was impressed with the opening ceremony as well.
Will no doubt watch the occasional game.

Always interesting watching the top 4 or 5 teams getting over-confident.

Watched most of the opener, thought there were a few home-town decisions that wouldn't have gone the other way, e.g. Wood only getting a penalty but not yellow-carded for tackling the Fijian player around the throat and dumping him to the ground. Still a deserved victory for England overall, with Fiji lacking in control and ability to play as a collective instead of as individuals. Easy to see the influence of 7s in their approach.
Watched Ireland put away Canada in a fairly workmanlike performance - had the bonus-point try before the end of the first half. Reasonable but not outstanding, still unforced errors and unnecessarily panicked play leave a few kinks still to be ironed out. Maybe it's a cunning plan to peak at exactly the right time, but I'm not completely at ease right now. Had to step away from the Japan/SA game but came back about five minutes before the end of the first half to find they'd managed to be close to even stevens with a well-mauled try! Going to watch as much of the second half as I can.

I am delirious!!! This has made me even happier than our own win over Canada. Today is one of the great days in sporting history. Japan is my new second team for the rest of the tournament!

Got to give credit to the Jap's, they did really well beating the bullies of rugby union. Love it.

The Japs played well, credit to them. Bokke, bullies? They are too old for that I'm afraid. Anyone want a springbuck rugby jersey?
