Over active Memory seat
I bought a 51 plate CDT connoiseur. Beautiful car with FSH 60K. May have over paid at 3K but I like it - no one else does as its silver with blue leather, however I knew when I bought it that the memory seat thought it came from a james bond film. It starts to push you forward as you drive. No problem as I just took number 3 fuse out. Now my wife has decided she actually likes the car. Does anyone have any ideas that dont need a mortgage to sort this out as I am bored of putting the fuse back whenever she wants to drive.
Have already thought of getting a taller wife, but cant afford 2 mortgages at the moment Dib |

Hi and welcome.
Sounds like a loose wire under the seat or on the seat controls. Have a look underneath and push all the connectors together. This usually happens with the airbag wiring but could happen I suppose with other circuits. Does this happen only with the Mrs driving or to you as well ??? |

Happens when anyone is driving. Will definitley have a look underneath to see if its a loose connection - other option is to ban Ness from driving it - this is not actually such a bad idea as she has no idea where the back is - neither do I actually but at least its my pride & joy if I clump it

to the forums.
Electric memory seat operations are controlled almost exclusively by the seat ECU which lives underneath the drivers seat. If you have non-memory seats then seat operation is controlled merely by the motor switches and no ECU's are involved. As suggested, check wires and make sure all connections are pushed in securely into the seat ECU. I do not know if the ECU is VIN-coded to your car, if not it may be worth seeing if you can swap the ECU over with another one from another car to see if the problem persists. For this though you will need a friendly member local to you with electric memory seats and a willingness to help. |

I have the exact opposite my memory seats are stuck in inch home mode
There is a manual diagnostic process you can try to test the seat operation but in my case it worked perfectly which rather suggests the diags and my T4 are pretty ueless for problems like this Do try the diags yourself which can be found in the howto section Do your symptoms happen with all four seat motors? Yes Simon memory seat ECU can be swapped over if kept it will need coding eventually but not necessary for testing. Last edited by Keith; 20th March 2009 at 17:56.. |
