Judder when pulling away
Hi All,
I have a 75 2000 cdti, and over the past 6 months the car when pulling away has started to judder? Not so evident first thing, but after car is warm and in traffic it becomes difficult to pull away smoothly, worse with a car full!! If i rev the car pulling away its not so harsh? I have been advised that it could be the engine mount? if so wheres the best and cheapest place to get a replacement? Thanks in advance, Dave |

Unlikely to be anything to do with engine mounts.
Will be the clutch surface with spots of friction material after being overheated in the past. Keep on using the clutch and over time if you are lucky the deposits will clear off and it will smooth out. Mine did, after getting hammered in busy busy city driving, for days on end, started juddering. Continued use obviously cleaned up the plate, and it is back to being perfect again. |

I fitted a new clutch to mine and put the judder down to the newness needing to wear off, a few hundred miles later and I replaced the lower engine mount which completely removed all judder instantly and also cured the 1800 rpm vibration issue.

Thanks everyone will check the engine mount tomorrow as I'm off work.
The clutch is not new but only do motorway miles so it's use is minimal, I believe that the problem will relate to the bottom engine mount as the car gets warm the mount gets warm and the rubber also becomes more flexible hence the worsening effect after a long drive. Will let you know my findings!! Thanks again, Dave |

Very useful and encouraging - these are exactly my symptoms and type of driving. Definitely not friction material deposited due to hard town traffic stop-go driving! And it's worse when warm.

Get a torch under that dashboard and check the clutch fluid level. You may have a tiny drip from the clutch bearing.
Mine had a judder for a couple of months and yes I changed bottom mounting . Semi cured but it was evident a few weeks later That it was the clutch judder that ruined the bottom engine steady whith drops of fluid on the lining. My cure new clutch
