Default One For Greeners?

In the spare wheel well of my 75/ZT-T hybrid Tourer there is a large cylindrical object, which I have just noticed when swapping the space saver for a proper wheel. It is about 18" diameter, has a BMW symbol on it and the name or code WABCO - what is it?!

I wonder if it could be something like a data logger left over from when it was being used as a test car? A picture would help though

Any wires or pipes connected..?

Failing that, unbolt it....oh, and what's the long BMW part number on it.

Yes.

The prototypes were self levelling using air springs, made by Wabco (Westinghouse Air Brake COmpany)

The underbonnet fusebox shows evidence of this (at least on some cars).

I saw these being made at Cowley, but it appears the production ,models moved to the self levelling dampers instead.
