Default Hidden boot vent?

I just removed the left hand side boot trim, to discover a large plastic vent cover? Does anyone know what its for? It can't be very effective because, as I said, it is right behind the side trim??

I was ferkeling around it there to check for water ingress. I found a small amount, then poured water on the rear screen and saw that it was getting in as it rounded the corner near the light fitting, due to a welded joint holing the rubber surround slightly up. A bit of clear silicone gel seems to have solved that problem.. .

PS. I went over to Castleton in the peak district yesterday, saw loads of "75's" en route.. .

The vent is used to release air pressure inside the cabin when you close a door or the boot.

Jags used to leak there all the time too , on a small note in the development of the 75 they were going to have actuators that released air pressure from cabin when door was closed but this was scrapped due to the costs
