Unhappy Engine Light On (ZTT 1.8T 54 plate)

Hello,

As I was accelerating to join the M25 this morning the engine light came on.

Stopped at Clackett Lane and checked oil and coolant - both OK.

Car drives OK but as handbook recommends I will get it checked out.

Any ideas of what the cause could be?

Thanks

Andy

If the light has come on ( is it still on ?) there should be a code stored identifying the fault.

Hello,

Yes the light remains on, so I'm hoping it's an easy one for my dealer to trace.

I do have a warranty so i'm hoping the component at fault is covered.

Thanks

Many thanks for the offer Steve.

It was diagnosed as a faulty cat.

no probs,
my rover 45 always came up as cat failure, yet still worked fine at the mot's, but every 100 ish miles, on with the engine light, and in with my £25 ebay OBD reset tool, the 45 had spent about 6 weeks in the misrable 3 years I owned the car, and even after the warranty expired, Rover would still try and find the faults, but to no avail

in the end the HGF went, so i scapped it
