Default Alpine Power Booster

I was wondering if this would be plug 'n' play with the Symphony:

https://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/pro...5a_p-26445.htm

It says any Alpine from 2005 to present. I see the Symphony was available until the end of 75 production but was it a current Alpine model by then or simply available from MG Rover stock?

Does anybody know?

This product, like the Harman Kardon power amplifier, uses the loudspeaker outputs of the Symphony as its input (according to Tom Palmer's review on the web page to which you linked). That is poor technical practice. The reviewer also says that after installation his system was no louder than it was originally, which is not too surprising.

I honestly wouldn't waste your time and money Gary. Instead, spend it on improving the loudspeakers. I think you'll find that much more rewarding.

Yes, l did read that. On balance l think that going by the current performance, the higher output of the Symphony over the Harmony should be enough to drive the new speakers. Mind you, l haven't fitted my just-arrived rear speakers yet. They might give the Harmony a headache.
We're going away for the weekend so l'm not allowed to play with them at the moment.
Thanks, Simon.
