Question How to clean inlet manifold R75 diesel

Does anyone know how to clean the inlet manifold from a Rover75, The M47 BMW diesel engine. I have taken the manifold off the engine, I have cleaned as far as I can reach inside, but there is still an awfully lot of black oily carbon inside, which I cannot reach. What is the best product to dissolve this NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-. I was wondering if a really strong oven cleaner might work, what do you think, any suggestions?. Thanks in anticipation. Bill

Have you tried a carb cleaner? The stuff I use from Halfords seems to strip most gunk of anything.
