I don't know what you call early, but mine is a club spec,2002, and has ATC. Never had a problem in working it, and it's great when on the continent, except when you open the doors to get out from a comfortable 68/70 deg, to have 90 or more deg hit you.

To save up for the paint to cover the primer on their Starlight Primertallic ZT-T I would surmise TC

I have seen a 2001 Classic saloon which had no aircon fitted in the flesh, and it is the only one I've ever clapped eyes on.

It also had steel wheels and hubcaps

Default Early Classic SE

My year 2000 V6 started life as a Classic SE and most definately has aircon and the manual controls. Aircon is absolutely freezing."brrrrrr

Has the manual aircon dials 3 not 4 as in some and the middle aircon button

Chris,

Just to clarify, we are talking about the Classic not the Classic SE which, by definition, has an enhanced specification which includes air con.

Indeed, the chart shows only the Classic being sans aircon, the SE being indicated as having it fitted.
The relevant lady has a Mk1 & feels a little humiliated regarding her oversight, but is receiving only encouragement from fellow members, as is right & proper.

A few were made without aircon. The really bog basic ones with steel wheels and non colour coded wing mirrors.
They are a rare beast though, ive only ever seen two of them.

This ^^^^

I would much rather have a straight forward Air-Con over Climate control, so much easier to operate. the MGR ATC I find very complicated to operate.

Although, it could barely be further from this spec level now, my car started out as a Classic SE. It has the basic 3 dial heater system with air conditioning. The only thing that was putting me off buying it was the lack of ATC, as all of the other 75s and ZTs I've owned have had the higher spec system.

I have to say that the basic system is head and shoulders above ATC in effectiveness and ease of operation. ATC is a pain. If the cabin temperature sensor, sunlight sensor, vent stepper motors, or air intake temp sensor are out of spec, it doesn't work properly. If the exterior temp sensor is duff, it doesn't work at all. So glad I didn't get put off buying this car by its lack of ATC.
