Aircon Faux Pas
Over on the faceache pages one of the members was lamenting the lack of aircon in her tourer. Some surprise was expressed that she didn't have it so she posted a picture to which it was pointed out that she actually had the ATC panel in place & should turn it on to see if it worked. Also to read the handbook that she'd had for the three years she's had the car which would give her the necessary operational information.
It was just a gap in her knowledge & the filling of it should keep her a lot more comfortable now. Mind you, l learned that the basic Classic didn't actually have it fitted, so there you go.

I have a "basic" Classic Tourer, and I can assure you that it does have Aircon - albeit not fancy, BUT far more efficient than the ATC on my other models. The tourer is coming up to 13 years old, and has yet to be re-gassed! I am the second owner (since 2009) and it has done 101,000, so not stored away to preserve the system!

I have got climate control but would prefer the simplicity and functionality of straightforward A/C.
I find the CC controls too small, fiddly and too low down. Having seen the large dials that can be re-set easily when on the move by feel alone I would much prefer this set up. |

I did think all 75's would have had it so was surprised to see that chart.

The Classic specification which Gary has posted has the manual heater controls you mention but no air conditioning button. This is confirmed in RAVE. There is a drawing of it. The middle small button is present but it doesn't have AC written on it and the text makes it clear that this system is heating and ventilation only. My 2002 brochure clearly shows that the Classic does not have air conditioning of any kind, not even as an option. However, the facelift Classics were supplied with it, so whether you have air conditioning or not depends upon the year of your particular Classic! Simon

Hi.
I have to agree that when the aircon does actually work the ATC makes it fiddly to get quite right. Conversely my Panda has the basic aircon system and it is effective and simple to operate, been great the last couple of days.
