Who's a very lucky boy .....
So yesterday evening I decide to do an oil and filter change plus pcv and air filter change on the diesel , the oil change went as smooth as it could go , 45 minutes , so now its time to remove the cover to get at the pcv and air filters so I start by loosening all the bolts from the passenger side working cross to the last bolt next to the oil filler cap the it is at this point I remember I have to remove the filler cap to remove the cover so with the oil filler cap removed and bearing in mind the bolts in the air filter cover are captive bolts I removed the bolt nearest the oil filler cap and guess what its not captive it comes out on the end of the allen key drops off bounced once right into the engine where the oil filler cap should have been at this point I just stood and stared in silence then it hit me what just happened so at 59 I am sitting in doors in tears with my misses hugging me , after sometime I pulled me self together went back to the car and tryed to see if the bolt was visible but no luck I decided finish and fitted the filters and left it until tonight.
To day at work I managed to find a small but very stronge magnet then I needed something flexible to get down oil filler hole so I decided on a very long cable tie used some electrical tape to fix the magnet and so tonight I went in dropped the cable tie in and no more than 3 seconds I heard a small " click" pulled the cable tie out and there it was a bolt hanging on the end of the magnet ....my god I was so luck and moral of the story stick a rag on the hole !.........I didnt bother doing the euro millions as I used all my luck up earlier today....

Great story. I'm sure we have all done similar but without the luck at the end!

I think I'd have felt exactly the same.
The delight at seeing the bolt on the end of the magnet. Well done! macafee2 |

The last time I felt that sense of euphoria is when Man U scored 2 goals in 1 minute againt's Bayern Munich in 1999 to win the Champions League... Actually pulling the bolt out wins by a hair ...
