Smile Any failures after fitting the ultimate head gasket kit?

Good evening my good fellow Rover/ZT owners!

I have recently fitted the Utlimate head gasket replacement kit, the MB-N specified one, in my Rover 75 1.8 Turbo.

According to the Swedish Rover Magazine, this solves lots of problems, but fails to eliminate the risks of a cracked head gasket 100 %.

What are your experiences? Have you ever heard of a failed head gasket after using the kit nemntioned above?

I am sincerely grateful for any insightful comments to this.

Have a nice evening,

Yours sincerely,
Erik Graver, Sweden.

There is no head gasket kit that eliminates the possibility of head gasket failure 100%.

Additionally, any replacement kit is only as good as the mechanic who fitted it was competent.

Yes there has been some failures if the wrong gasket has been used.

It all depends on firstly the condition of the head and block face, secondly and most importantly the liner hieghts.
If the liners haven't sunk then the MLS gasket is the one to use but if the liners have sunk slightly or unevenly then it's the Elastomer gasket that should be used instead.
If the liners have sunk beyond the limit where you can fit an Elastomer gasket then the only way to ensure the gasket will not fail is to reset the liners to the correct hieght.

If you do a search on here you'll find the various tolerences concerning the liner hieghts.

Covered 14.5k in my 1.8 since fitting the modified gasket, no coolant loss whatsoever, so I take it the job was done correctly, as I would expect it to be done, naturally.

Thank you. My mechanic something about one liner that was off, but that the head gasket in the kit I had bought solved the problem.
