Even American cars/Mustangs don't sound like that as standard.
As mentioned, to get that sound Americans fit "lumpy" cams, which allegedly are a performance enhancement higher up in the rev range, but have that detrimental effect on idle. |

do folks just "want" without asking why ?
I want the idle characteristics of a "Cammed" Drag Racing Car these Have a terrible sounding Idle due to the fact the Cams are tuned for Full Throttle Pulls - they Sound Great at full tilt tho I could only imagine how Bad they'd be to drive on the Road You Could (DON'T DO IT ) just pull the PCV vacuum hose - it will dump a load of fuel to compensate for the vacuum leak - the result will be a similarly terrible sounding Idle - if you are Daft enough to try this at idle DON'T DRIVE the Car - seriously tho - Don't do it, I'm just highlighting the fact that the Unrefined/Somethings Wrong/Damaged Sounding Idle Characteristics of these Race Tuned Cars seems a strange thing to want in a Road Car Paul. |

I did return and as indicated have no intention of doing anything to the engine!
