Default Weird Mouse Thing

I just bought a wireless keyboard & mouse kit (fed up with the keyboard cable) - it's a Logitech Cordless Desktop MX3000.

Everything does what it should except the 'back' button on the mouse, which (when using Internet Exploder) is supposed to reverse one step but actually reverses two.

It reverses one step in Windows Explorer but two steps in Internet Exploder. The previous mouse (a Logitech MX700) reversed one step in IE and all other apps.

Any ideas? I'm on Vista.

Maybe Vista is the problem

Can't be Vista because the previous mouse didn't do it.

Have you loaded any Specific drivers and Software Program
or relying on Operating System?
Ensure by going to update the latest ones are loaded as Drivers can cause all sorts of problems.
On the MS Wireless mouse I can alter all the Parameters and Zoom ratios etc on its own program,
so you may well have the same facility/issues.

I've got an Optical Corded MS Mouse.....every so often the back button doesn't work. Forward will as do the normal controls.

I have to go into the program associated with it, and change it to another funtion, apply it, change it to Back, apply again and it's fine.

It happens on both PC's that it's been on, Iv'e got the latest patches for XP and reloaded the software twice.

I've put it down to a glitch in the Software and just got used to it.

John - the mouse & keyboard are controlled by software called Logitech Setpoint. I downloaded the latest v4.60 but there's no option for changing the number of steps on the forward & back buttons.

David - just tried your suggestion and it makes no difference.

PS. Just realised the Forward button also jumps by two pages instead of one.

Try a complete uninstall - install of the program and see if that helps...

Aha - this does the trick, even though it's listed as a solution for a different mouse.

Quite probably your PC was recognising the button click 'twice' with the settings applied (Logitech software registers one click and sends a signal to the operating system and at the same time the operating system detects the same 'click' and adds a signal too) therefore instructing the browser to jump forward or backward twice instead of just the once.
