Starbucks - offers to pay degree tuition fees
What a great idea!
They have been doing it in the States for a while - and now offer it to U.K. employees |

It has merit. Baristas are not just there for a basic job. Many see the company as long term and with possible advancement opportunities. Every company needs senior personnel in several areas of operation. Good forward thinking and the planning for it. It attracts applicants from a hugely wider range of abilities and demonstrates confidence in their own future.

It’s online tuition from Arizona State University and would normally cost about $13000 or £10000 a year.
Having dealt with young professionals who often have £30k to £40k of student loan debt I believe this idea has serious merit. Well done Starbucks. |

This is to be applauded.
The next step in demonstrating good corporate governance should be for Starbucks pay its UK taxes. I believe in 2017/18 it paid just 2.8% in corporation tax! |

To be fair to Starbucks - they have moved their European HQ to London from Amsterdam so that they can actually pay tax in the U.K.
And as for the stupid headlines in the MSM re their only paying 2.8% Corporation tax - this was because of the total 2017 profit of £213million, £150million was profit from another business entity within the group that was amalgamated with Starbucks - AND ON WHICH TAX HAD ALREADY BEEN PAID!! The reality is often hidden by the MSM - as reality rarely makes a sensational headline. |
