Default Diesel Steering vibrations at 2000 rpm

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen.
I’m coming back to you.
I’ll explain the problem, excuse me for the length of the message.
The steering wheel vibrates over a range of engine speed (between 1800 and 2100 rpm). It’s really annoying, it’s like a little continuous buzzing from the steering wheel, not a left-to-right tremor.
This happens in any gears and also at a idle (when i accelerate until 1800/2000 rpm).

I should point out that I am very meticulous with the 75.
All engine mounts are new. I also changed tie rod ends, anti roll bar links and front lower arms. The tires have also been changed.
The alternator and the belts were replaced last year.
The complete clutch kit was changed at 140000 km (today 192000km).
I put the car on the hook and did several tests. I can already exclude the tires, the engine mounts.
I am beginning to wonder if my crankshaft pulley is not at issue.
I know that it plays the role of engine damping. When I changed this pulley on the other 75 , the engine became smoother.

I would like to point out that the vehicle behaves very well, with no noise or tremors or cracking except for the steering wheel problem.

I haven’t done the chalk test on the pulley yet.
One last thing, I don’t know if it’s related.
When the car is hot and I turn off the engine, the car shakes and I hear a metallic noise, but this phenomenon does not occur cold engine.
Someone would have an idea please,I despair.

Thank you in advance for your help, and good luck in these difficult times.
Goodbye.

If you grab the steering wheel and try to move it up and down is there any play?

i had the same issue with my grandads 75s, just couldn't work out why, if i gave the car a good hard drive it would make it better as he never really pushed the car but in the end i fitted led weights into the wheel under the airbag, as a tiny bit of pressure would stop it.

A complete guess but you might want to check exhaust mounts and the flexible section - mine was starting to break up and that, along with a failing mount halfway down, caused the steering to go in phase slightly.

Goodbye.

I've had the same for about 6 months months now on my diesel, the vibrations increased under a higher load when going up a steep hill or fast acceleration.

Intermitently when parking up and turning the engine off there has been a quick burst of metallic clattering almost like a fan or pulley bearings wearing out and about to pack in making me wonder if a pump, pulley or something similar is on the way out.

I put the vibration through the steering wheel under acceleration down to the fact that the hydramount was noticed weeping two years ago and I have a new one ready for Jules to change when the current situation is over.

However if the OP has changed all his bushes and mounts then that is a little deflating that his similar problem has not been cured.

If it helps I have just changed nearly everything on the front end including shocks, springs, top mounts , lower arms and bushes and hub etc , hydramount, lower engine mounting and I still have a vibration between 1800 and 2000 rpm.
It's a lot better than it was and the 2 things I haven't changed yet are the gearbox mount and the drivers side drive shaft which has a knackered bearing in the middle.
I'm hoping the the play in the bearing is causing the vibes due to rotational mass and all that.
The exhaust has been removed and refitted when I dropped the subframe.
Easy to check the bearing, just tug on your shaft and it will knock if worn.

I too get that metallic clatter when I switch the engine off, but if I switch off the climate control, before I switch off the engine, no clatter.

Not suggesting it happens on every diesel, just that it happens on mine.

Hmm, that sounds terminal, I'll give you a tenner for it, and you can have a nice silver ZT instead
