Ricky Gervais speech at the Golden Globes
A friend recommended I watch this - easy to find on Google.
And I take my hat off to him He really socked it to the hypocrites of the don’t do as I virtue signal - do as I say. It really is worth a watch. Couple of highlights:- “Apple roared into the TV game with ‘The Morning Show’ a superb drama! A superb drama about dignity and doing the right thing, made by a company that runs sweatshops in China.” “.....the companies you work for! - I mean, unbelievable, Apple, Amazon, Disney. If ISIS started a streaming service, you would call your agent wouldn’t you!” “You are in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg.” I am in awe of a guy who has possibly ruined his career in America for telling the hypocrite “luvvies” some home truths. How crass that some object to the rest of us flying away on a well earned holiday - when they regularly use a Private Jet or travel First Class across the Atlantic to attend an Extinction Rebellion protest in London? Damn well said that man. Do check it out. |

Just another rich guy spouting off to his peers...
Smacks a tad of ‘bite the hand that feeds’ to me.

Myself, I can't abide this annual charade of awards season. There seems to be one every week. Just the same people going from beanfeast to beanfeast.
There are so many " gongs", handed out. The list seems endless. I can't wait for the whole ridiculous love in for the luvvies to be over. |

These ceremonies seem to be far more prevalent on the BBC than other channels - they even have a special correspondent for them - what does he do for the rest of the year? I try to avoid them like the plague, but it gets harder every year!
As for Ricky Gervais, I never could stand him, and my own feeling, for what it is worth, is that he was being VERY ironic.. |
