Default KV6 struggling to start.....

Evening all
My KV6 struggles to start when cold.......10-20 seconds until she fires up....

Ive been on the T4 but no real answers.............Ive had a few people say it may be the Crankshaft Sensor....

Would anyone have one I could buy for a reasonable price
That way I could eliminate or cure this sensor

Cheers

I very much doubt it's your Crank Sensor. I would say it's something to do with your Cold Start Enrichment Switch, or whatever it is called now, but basically the Auto-Choke. And also check you battery terminals for good/clean/tight connection.

Wonder what that's called on these fine machines !! :-)

The battery is relatively new, in good order and terminals all good....

It sounds to me more like a cam sensor issue rather than the crank. When they fail the engine is difficult to start when cold as you describe because the ECU has to effectively guess when to give the spark by trying to determine what position the engine is in.

It won't be the Cam Sensor either. If it was that it wouldn't start hot or cold. It's more than likely the Choke Thermostat making the ECU think the engine is warm thereby not activating the 'Auto-Choke'.

My KV6 was like yours for 3 yrs. Wouldn't start for a few seconds and then off it went. I considered it normal.
Yeah, well, how else would the ECU know it's cold unless there is a thermostat, or something simular telling it it's cold? Which usually taken from the water temperature, air intake temperature or the OTD? So don't say there is "no such thing".....

My recent starting problems has been down to a cam sensor. But as has been said, it only failed to start when warm. When cold, fired up straight away every time.
I thought if it was a faulty crank sensor it wouldn't start at all.
