Default Rover 75 Ignition Key Coding??????

Hi,
Are there any fab & groovy ways to recode my spare ignition key? My main key is getting difficult to press the unlock button. My spare unlocks and locks the car as well as tuns it all on but when you turn to start the car - nothing.

Do I have to have it professionally reset?

Thanks.

Reading your description it would appear that your spare has no immobiliser chip in the back of the keyfob. Open the keyfobs and compare, you're looking for a small, rectangular black chip. Easiest solution if the spare has none would be take the back off the fob that starts the car (with the chip) and fit just the back to the spare fob.

Regards

Sorted, thanks.
When I openned the keys a small black 'thing' fell out of the working key. It looked like a small magnet, nothing like a chip and it wasn't connected to any circuits. I popped it into the non working key and now we have an easy to use key again.

Many thanks for the advice.

Pleased to be able to help. As in Suzublu's picture the chip should be located in its housing, if it's loose, use something like Blue Tack to keep it in place.

I wonder what happened to the chip in your spare key.

Might have been opened in the past and the chip fell out.---
