If it's an engine with a cross over it then, it's immobilised. P.91 in my handbook (Swedish edition). Possible corruption of the signal between the EWS and main EMU (ECU). Needs someone like BigRuss to sort it out, or perhaps Chris in Fareham.

If it is the yellow engine sign with a X through it, then it points to the engine being disabled, could have something to do with the key fob and ring round the ignition.

Will the car start ok and run ok?

Are we talking diesel car here, and are you certain its the yellow engine symbol with an X or is it just the engine check symbol, if diesel try unplugging the low fuel sensor and clean with contact cleaner, push on and off a few times.

That light has not come back on , car is running as Normal..

But ?..

Thought i would have a peek at the system with my OBD2 Reader to see if anything is reported this morning and all I get is an error in Communication ??.

Always had no problem with the reader.. any connections bettween these 2 probs ? , is there any fuse i can check that can prevent comms?

ta

Could simply be that a contact needs cleaning as Artic says.

It's probably just age related rather than a component failure.
