Hi David, I suppose they may have done, nothing was ever mentioned though. I guess if this was the case, the lack of blood flow would have finished my testes off by now... here's wishing. I didn't go through with the varicocele embolization in the end, I wasn't keen on the use of the metal coils. I've since been back for a follow up, they have now offered me a Varicocelectomy, this is surgery where they cut and tie off the swollen veins, its meant to be a higher success rate on right sided varicoceles. Had my coils for over 6 months now, all pain is gone and zero side effects....
Personally I would stop reading stories off of the web and trust the medical professionals so sort it for you..

That is good to hear Pete, part of me does wish I had gone through with the embolization, I could be pain free by now.

I was first treated for epididymitis with no diagnosis, seems to be the normal routine when us guys get painful nuts. I was given courses of antibiotics and tested for STI's, all came back clear. The meds worked for a short time but the symptoms would always come back, several scans later and was told I have varicoceles and epididymal cysts, then got told these are small and would not be causing the pain.
Several years later and now they are sorting the varicoceles, if that fails then removal of the cysts or the epididymis, I just wish they would hurry up and sort me out. Did you guys get the ache/pain go down your legs and into your feet and effect your walking? Its only now the docs have started listing to me, if they leave me any longer I'm not going to be able to walk. Just imagine... man disabled due to his balls. |

An update on this.
I meant to be having surgery on Tuesday, I had a phone call last week to get me in for a varicolectomy. I've been waiting for this day for years, and now its here, I'm crapping myself. What guy wants surgery on their nuts, especially during the covid situation. Today I have to get a covid test at Southampton, then I'm being seen at a private hospital on Tuesday, I can see myself chickening out. The docs cant even guarantee the pain I get is due to the varicoceles, so its all a bit of a gamble. |

Good luck, Wes.
I hope the operation goes smoothly and they don't balls it up.

That seems an entirely satisfactory epitaph to me. Having that on my gravestone would serve as an epitaph to be proud of. Just imagine, all those Sunday afternoons of gentle and worthy parishioners on their post-prandial parades, full of stuffing and wine, seeing that legend on Yours Truly's memorial in the municipal eternity storage facility. Not saying I would necessarily turn in my trough but surely an admiring grin would be excusable? My best wishes to the OP, former glories and triumphs must surely abound.

Bringing a grown man to his knees, a funny relationship us men have with the old brass clankers... Well! I was up at Southampton getting tested for Covid and back again within two hours. The swab goes in the mouth and up the nose all quite unpleasant, results tomorrow. |
