That's what I do. My SGS jack lowers nice and steady, easy to control. Yours may need a bit of "running in". Have a word with SGS. They do have a "high lift" jack which I think is just a slot in attachment to your existing jack. I use four axle stands rather than bothering with ramps if I want to get all four wheels off.

I dont know if anyone else finds this my I cant drive my Tourer straight up the ramps because the bumper gets in the way. Last time, I had to remove the bumper first then drive it up!!

Was thinking of buying this for use on my ZTT, particularly to use on the rear centre jacking point.

Not so sure now. This is the one you have macafee, isn't it?
yes that's the one. I have emailed SGS so should have a reply that I can post next week.

I'm working in my garage. With work benches behind, BBQ and tools etc in front of the work bench then my car I'm not sure there is space to move the car back, drive forward onto ramps and still be able close the garage up and over door.

Are your ramps old? Mine are very old. Older cars had a higher bumper and so the ramp angle was greater. You can now get shallower angle ramps that may do the job.

Lifts the car up very high, on full hight my car's nearly 45degree angle. the jack is nice and low as well, had to get this one after standard ones would no longer get under my car after fitting the side skirts as it's been lowered as well.
I've got the Arcan jack as well, very smooth operation up and down! Lifts my CDT very easily. Well worth the price, much more stable than the cheaper ones that are out there.

I have a SGS 3 ton jack. The lift is more than enough to get stands under the front jacking points on the body. So there must be something wrong ,or you have a different one to me. 500 odd mm lift.

I have TJ3 but it has a lift of 520mm apparently. I'll have to check the oil level in the jack, I'll be a bit disappointed if it is low. I will also check to see how high the jack is going as it should be 520mm

ramps at 9 inch is only 225mm. What is the suspension travel when the car is lifted up, how far do the wheels "drop", 295mm = 11 3/4 inch, surly not?

I also need to consider how much of the jack travel is used when it is on the ground and has to rise to make contact with the car but this could be overcome by putting it on wood.

Just reread your post and you say that it does not go high enough to put the wheels on the top of ramps. I can understand that because as you say, the suspension ‘drops’ as it is lifted. When I use ramps, I have pieces of wood nailed together that I slope away from about two thirds of the way up the ramp and then drive up them onto the ramps easily.
