I've had an auto before and no matter how much I tried to love it I just couldn't. Don't know why.

The paint job being a supertallic is about £2K extra, the grille is probably an extra and perhaps the type of alloys? Also the diesel engine option possibly counts towards that 5K extras? What matters is that it does have FSH, looks good. Need to go see it, drive it, look under the bonnet and see what the engine is like. I like the autos myself. I have a 1.8T Connie that is an auto and it is great. My MG ZT is manual, but it would not bother me if it were also an auto. The boxes seem to be fine. It might be worth having someone mechanically minded along with you to give it a professional eye over? But other than that - see it and if you like it, go ahead!

Hmm, I'm not a huge fan of Chatsworth, nor if I'm honest premium bumper or cream seats.
However everything is subject to personal choice and taste, or in my case lack of taste One mans meat is another's poison as they say By the way I've not forgotten about you David, but I've been working 14 hour days this week, respite tomorrow though Brian |

Good evening Brian,
I've not seen a Chatsworth Rover 75 before so I am reserving judgement on that and the same applies to the premium bumper. However as regards the cream seats I am hoping that it will have a sandstone beige leather interior. Only time will tell though but I should know by tomorrow lunchtime. Regards David Quote:

Then I would say go for it. It's a cracking motor with a good MOT history (only failed 4 times in 11 years) and for a very decent price.
BTW - Cream is indeed Sandstone. Smokestone is darker and almost grey like AFAIK, and black is...er...black.

It’s a lovely car and fairly priced. As said one mans food, another mans poison.
Personally I like the colour combination and wouldn’t have anything other than automatic. My only comments are it’s fitted with front mud flaps which will destroy the front wings and at 92k and 04 plate I’m sure the suspension will be ready for an overhaul. |

Thanks for your comments.
Mud flaps....a thorny issue....but I'm a mud flap man. The rear springs were replaced at 71000 miles in December 2013. Quote:

Very nice. Even at the price, I don’t think this will hang about long...

Jim's comment above is spot on. At nearly 100k, the suspension will be tired the and springs/dampers etc. ready for renewal for anyone wanting the car to drive "like new".
If you are in a position to spend another 1k to £1.5k on it to make it ready for a further 75k+ trouble free miles, go for it. It is not worth stretching to buy a car and then not being able to enjoy it due to financial considerations. Personally, I don't like hairpins - it is too sophisticated and classy looking a car for such wheels. This car is crying out for forks etc. I also don't think the cost of extras is relevant on a 12+ year old car unless one of the extras is one that you must have.
