I'm surprised there has never been either a tunnel or bridge to Northern Ireland |

Indeed - China’s bridge from Hong Kong to Zhuhai is 34 miles long and will reduce the travelling time from over 3 hours to about 30 min.
Not a bad result. Certainly a better reduction than HS2 is likely to give us. |

Perhaps if those living there don't want it, one to NI should be looked at or another dartford crossing. I think we've fairly poor infrastructure in this country. Decisions seem to be left for decades just umming and arring, just accept you can't please everyone and build it/them. |

We also have laws to protect the environment - a very good thing of course! - but when you see what the likes of China does to its environment today to get things built - and of course the old Soviet Union - where grand projects saw devastation seas lakes and rivers - it’s makes you realise things may be slower here - but for good reason. Compare what we do to what the Soviets did to the Aral Sea as just one example and slow and steady, with checks and balances does not seem so bad. China just orders people out of the way at gun point if they see fit. We in contrast stop a development if a bat colony is nearby. And I think I would rather do things our way than through force. |

Well I was tempted to say all those trucks waiting for customs have to park some place, on reflection better not mention it
Have a look at these kids walking the Humber Bridge cables 510 ft up.. |

There's taking time and there's prevaricating. Some of the issues have been known about for decades and gone nowhere.

Agreed - the south coast road from Dover to Portsmouth is one. That’s been talked about ever since I have had a driving license .
Amazing to think the South East gets all that money and yet the road network there is so poor. |
