Default Rain Sensing Wipers

My rain sensing wipers have a mind of their own and many times I wished I could revert to standard set up.

Refreshing up on a few things on Rave I found reference to the fact that the rain sensor can store codes which can be used to diagnose faults or non-function.... 'If a rain sensor fault prevents the sensor from operating the BCU will control the wiper system as if a rain sensor is not fitted'

Does this mean that if I force the sensor not to work, by say disconnecting wiring, that my wipers will go back to standard including manual intermittent wipe?

Anyone have any experience of this they could share please.
Thanks Tony

When my sensor failed a few years ago I just disconnected it and the wipers reverted to manual intermittent control with no problems. Apparently this should not be the case without re-coding but it worked just fine for me. Give it a go.

Yes our Facelift was the same - the previous owner had a replacement screen fitted and left the rain sensing unplugged and it worked as a manual system, although it would think about it for a bit so there was an initial delay.

Don't know why I didn't think of the obvious and unplug!

Anyway I have now and confirm that the wipers are working ok manually on both speeds and intermittent albeit I don't think the speed related feature works.

I am just very pleased that I have the intermittent control back.
Thanks for the input.
