Just been out to Mo, took the bung off the rubber strip, prodded with a thin screwdriver and it's not a hole that goes into the roof space. So no, roof bars probably not a culprit.

Last thought, the chrome trim that runs along the roof above the doors has push in clips.wondering if they could allow water into the A pillar.
Thought that would be a sealed section but if not and a clip was missing or broken might be worth a look

Sounds like a sensible idea, will check to see if it seems loose, thanks!

Chrome trim seems to fit tightly, no sign of a gap or loose clips

Well, after a month of being grumpy and ignoring the problem, I may accidentally have found a clue. Whilst refitting the passenger seat ready for her visit to the garage for a shiny new cam belt and water pump I checked for the pond and found lots of water, not unexpected. Had a poke around and noticed the top of the back of the glovebox felt wet-I think that's where the water has spread from which could explain why it seems to fill both sides of the passenger footwell. Also poked my finger into the a pillar and I'm sure it was wet. Therefore, once belt is changed, glovebox will be out, maybe, just maybe, I might finally find the (or at least one of) my cursed leaks!

Feeling a bit sheepish. It seems my leak may be due to the windscreen...I may have denied this quite a lot...oops! Looking at getting it refitted, fingers crossed as I can't afford a new screen! On the plus side, belt and water pump change went well!

Well my car is finally complete again! All dried out, now slowly getting round to sorting the other problems. Whilst putting the interior back together, culprits for squeaks and rattles became apparent. Screws missing on the tailgate trim and centre console and 2 door cards are loose so I replaced the screws, door cards are next on the list as is a regulator and motor for the rear passenger window so 3 cards off in total...but then, success!!! Until the MOT on the 19th...although with all the issues I've had with the leak it's only done about 350 miles since the last one so hopefully no issues. Tyres are barely legal though...upgrade maybe

Well I thought it was about time I put up a picture, she's a bit mucky though! Flew through the mot, tyres didn't come up as an advisory this time! Fancied some nicer alloys though so found a set of straights pretty local so popped them on sorted the rear window regulator, much simpler than expected! Next job is the electric mirrors and some new wiper blades...and tracking...and maybe leather...and ipk...and black oak...these cars get expensive

You can get some nice centre caps for the straights
