Default Diesel oil cooler leak

I have a fuel leak coming from the diesel cooler by the o/s rear wheel. How easy is it to bypass the cooler and send the feed straight to the fuel tank?
It's going in next week to be looked but if there is a relatively straight forward fix to tide it over until then i'd prefer not to be losing fuel if i can help it!

Is it the heat exchanger that is leaking or the thermostat?

Hi Pete.
Give the area a good clean and check where it's leaking from sometimes it can be the hose has flared on the end and just needs trimming.

I'll try and have a look underneath tomorrow but unfortunately it won't be in daylight due to work If it isnt something simple like a leaking pipe which do you need to connect to bypass the whole operation and send the fuel back to the tank?

Even if i am unable to get under it this week at least i can help the garage with the info as i am aware the radiator appears to be no longer available so if that has gone i wont have much other choice but to bypass.

Later cars are slightly different - do you have an under bonnet fuel pump?

Hi Mike

Mine is a Cowley so has the underbonnet pump and presumably the 4 pipe cooler system.
Cheers
Pete

If its the thermostat part then these will fit below.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/402298551190

Also you can get the bracket which is stainless steel from Ben on here if he still has some, he had them made up, they can corrode and make certain parts fail.

You can get the later fuel cooler for 2004, expensive though.

But as i said check those hose ends for flaring.

Thanks for the links however it was a bit too dark when i finished work even with a torch to see where the issue is so it will have to wait until Mon now when it us up on the ramp. I don't really want to be buying parts just in case so fingers crossed it will be a pipe issue so they can fix it while it is in.

It'll be the solenoid valve rather than the cooler Pete, an easy job if its up on a ramp, some fuel hose and a few jubilee clips will have it sorted.
